Afternoon Tea at the Wolseley

On Sunday afternoon I set off for Green Park to have Afternoon Tea with some friends at The Wolseley. I have had afternoon tea here before a couple of years ago and it is probably the most reasonably priced tea in central London. The setting is spectacular and it really feels like a special experience.

I don't drink tea or coffee so I went for Hot Chocolate instead. It came beautifully presented in three layers that you then mixed together. It is lovely rick, thick, dark hot chocolate.

The tea started with sandwiches, from left to right; smoked salmon, cucumber, sour cream and paprika, chicken and tarragon and egg and cress.

Then we had two fruit scones each, with cream and jam. The scones came lovely and warm and the cakes were delicious.

Followed by cakes to share; battenburg, chocolate opera cake, frangipane tart, lemon eclair, cheesecake, and pistachio and chocolate cake.

This was a very traditional afternoon tea and different from the two I had in November. Everything was perfectly presented, although they did forget one of our scones! I would definitely recommend The Wolseley for a reasonably priced traditional afternoon tea.
